Thanks to the economic slump across Asia, Alex who used to work as a mechanic with a French multi-national now scavenges for a living on Jakarta's rubbish dump. Martin Adler takes us into the reality of Indonesia's social and economic breakdown.

The film catches the early signs of a groundswell of criticism and action against President Suharto -- but there is more than just the prospect of popular revolution. Many Indonesians blame the country's ethnic Chinese for economic troubles, and some are ready to take racist action against them.
