on board video cards are usually a lot slower than add on cards. if you are a basic vista user you might want to get a add on video card but if you are sticking with xp you probably wouldnt it really depends but a 256mb card isnt gonna run you bankrupt you can find a decent one for around $30

im not familiar with the newer amd and intel chips but i think amd has faster front side bus whatever that is, all i know is that i really noticed a difference with a faster front side bus in my computer :D

intel is faster but amd is cheaper. it depends on your budget and what motherboard you have. also they both have several dual core processors.
