@Cheshu1 I don't know. I'm only thirteen years old. But, you can send a letter to Thomas S. Monson, our current prophet. He answers all letters. He will answer truthfully. Now, I didn't completely understand the post with the thing about the black people, white woman, and the fines? Please explain more. Also, if we are defined by our past, then does that make America defined by George Bush?

@ShadlinTolly The will of God was for all people to see the light. If we had disobeyed the law, our Church would've been destroyed. See? Also, in reference to your comment before, I doubt any Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Catholics, whatever, will admit that they tarred and feathered, tortured, killed, shot, and did many other things to Mormons, just because they were a new religion.

@ShadlinTolly (Continued) in order to keep the Church alive. If we were to go against slavery, the Church could've been destroyed, and unable to grow, and allow ALL people today to do this. And how do you know Mormons at your door won't tell you this? Have you ever asked them? They will be truthful.

@Cheshu1 True, yes. But Joseph Smith made mistakes, just like all of us do. Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States of America, published some of the most vile works of literature against slaves written. And he wrote the Declaration of Independence. Andrew Jackson, former hero of the War of 1812, issued the Indian Removal Act, forcing Indians to walk the trail of tears. And slavery was part of the law at the time. Some sacrifices must be made (continued in next post)

@OCARINAofTlME we believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour that without Him our lives would literally have no meaning. To me that seems to clearly represent our entire religion is based upon Him. Joseph was a prophet as many other prophets have been throughout history. Of course we are thankful for him but even Joseph taught he was nothing more than a man but Christ is the center of of our gospel.
