This is me giving our youngest bird, Julia, her last shot in a series of 10 antibiotic shots She caught some infection from-- the avian specialist says-- bad pet store food. No idea if that's right.
Anyway, you can see me feeling for her keel bone then giving her the injection to the right of it. This ensures that you don't hit any organs. I use a shortened syringe cap to control the depth of the needle, since it only needs to go in about 1/4 inch.
She's all better now!

  • Where are all her tail feathers?

  • partly from her illness and partly from her molt.

they grew back pretty quick, though.

  • aww :(

  • yeah, she wasn't happy, because she had to get 10 of them. But she's perfect now. I hated giving the shots, always made me nervous.

  • I know I would've have gotten nervous giving my cockatiel a shot as well.
