Best sports theme ever, up there with SUPERSTARS! Anyone got SPORTSNIGHT titles from the 70s?
-
No, it was 1968. You may be confused because the theme music (which was used until the series ended in 1997) is often attributed to 1967, perhaps the year it was recorded. Also, seeing how it ended in 1997 people might want to make out that it ran for a round 30 years rather than a more awkward 29.

This show went out live from studio D Lime Grove. I had the dubious privilege of having to operate the Bosch-Fernseh effects machine (we called it 'inlay' or 'overlay' in those days) which produced the horizontal split for the headlines. These were on a camera pointing at a roller caption (rather obviously).

The music takes me back to watching every snippet of football i could. As opposed to today where there is such a dluge i grow bored of it.

Colemans football commentary was great - 1-0 ! he kept it simple - it's a goal, it's Saturday !

Why did it stop just when he was going to interview Mary Rand? Very frustrating!
