The Convair 580 was just a good airplane. I used to work for an outfit that had F-27's and then 580's, and the 580 was the ticket on a hot day with a full load. Those Allison engines had power to spare, unlike the Rolls Royce Darts on the F-27 (and Convair 600's, too, for that matter).

I used to pilot a 580 7 years ago. They retired it, and they took it apart. So sad to see my first plane die:(

I Know this particular Convair. Im fairly certain that it is now located at Bankstown. Beautiful Planes! I love them!
