Was that a Black Star chick or a 100% Barred Rock? I'd be interested in knowing because TSC people don't seem to have answers for anything-- nor do they seem to be told either. Pardon the pun, but they seem to wing it as they go... I am looking for Barred Rocks and saw some chicks like that labeled as Black Stars.

@TINCANWRANGLER Hi the chick is a pure bred French Copper Black Maran.

A trait of these is that they have feathered legs. Good layers with dark chocolate brown shells. The broodie hen is a cookoo maran.. Thanks for your interest.

i got a naked neck chicken that hatched some chicks 3 times this year and she is a really good mother she attacks my dogs and me when ever we get close when she has the babies
