When I saw Josh Barnett doing all of these moves, I was like, "Now THAT is something I have never seen before in MMA! This is interesting!" I heard one of the announcers say his fighting style is "catch wrestling". I didn't know what it was. I never knew about catch wrestling before. But now that I am researching it, I am finding that it is a very skillful style of folk wrestling and it has a rich tradition. And most of all, it is fun to watch! There is a whole lot of technique going on there!

@AverageAsianMe I see, like I replied above, I didn't know how thick the history is to some of this fighting. This really interests me, I'm going to check out more of it. Thxs!!! It's really fascinating when u sit down and think about what a guy like Barnett is trying to accomplish while he's in a fight. The style seems sooo complicatedly simple, maybe b/c it's a wrestling form??!! It's very interesting...

@damaddennite Catch as Catch can wrestling. CACC...well wrestling in itself is thought of as wwe / tna pro wrestling. that kind of stuff. It's a real style of fighting older than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Total domination. I base my top game on Josh Barnett and it works out well.
what is this style? what does it mean and why are people saying it is returning?

@damaddennite (scientificwrestling website) there are LEGIT sources out there on CACC... this group is affiliated with Josh Barnett, Erik Paulson, Billy Robinson, Karl Gotch, Dick Cardinal, Billy Wicks, and so-on... in Canada, you have Kris Iatskevich and his group.. it's still VERY strong in England and Japan (Sakuraba, Minowa, Fujiwara, etc.).
