I wonder if Mr. Watts ever read Meister Eckhart or Al-Arabi. I don't mind acknowledging eastern philosophies, just please don't make us out to be enlightened cultures- because we're not.

Tsk, Just like a European- to rebuke his cultures insecurities through the guise of elevating other cultures and religions. Temples in India are built as churches in Italy and the Chinese kneel in front of statues of Bodhisattvas. Oh but yes, I know the rebuttal to that argument- That's just the uneducated easterners. Their philosophers are much more subtle.

@johnnyeze How do you comment on this? Liking it or disliking it is irrelevant. No one is in a position to accept or reject anything no one can do anything because basically everything lives side by side. Good and evil inhabit the same reality, what can one do?

As Americans, we are programmed and taught to never even think or ponder these sorts of ideas. For most this is their outcome, the ideology in these lectures is exactly the opposite of everything that is American. Sad but true. We are taught that life is Working hard ft jobs, finding a hetero partner marriage, and going to church on Sunday. And repeat. Life is more amazing then we will realize in my lifetime and im 29. Although i cant see this world lasting more than a couple generations!

I'll comment! I love Alan Watts. It's atheist spirituality, and that's what I am so, it works out quite well. He is very well spoken too.
