Our family backpacking adventure to Panama City eventually took us from the streets of Casco Viejo in the Old Quarter of Panama City to the rugged Caribbean coast and more adventure in San Blas Archepelago. The San Blas islands are also known as the Comarca de Kuna Yala, the semi autonomous homeland of the Kuna Indian people. We were based on Isla Kuanidup just across from a Kuna settlement on Wichub Wala. We found true paradise with white sand beaches, turquoise blue water, and palm lined beaches on the tiny island known as Isla Perro, or Dog Island. After a flight on a deHavilland Twin Otter bush plane from Carti, Panama to Panama City we visited the Panama Canal at the Mira Flores Lock and cruised the old cobbled streets of the old quarter at Casco Viejo in Panama City.
We travel on a shoestring budget and get as much bang for our buck as a family of 5 can have!

  • Just part of my Home. But you forgot to visit the slums of Panama City, Panama.

I was raised in Colon but it has become a very dangerous City.

I love the simple life of rural Panama. But, I choose to live in the USA.

    Mi corazon es en Panama

  • HORRIBLE SONG CHOICE

  • Beautiful video of my country!!! I'm very glad you had a good time here. Thanks for the post.

  • Cool video! You captured the vibe of Panama and San Blas really well. I used to live there a couple of years. Would love to go back!

  • Awesome. I loved the video, you remind me my family. From the Patagonia: Congratulations for the twins!

  • dude I had no idea planes landed on that runway. I drove right on that thing when I went there. I even sat there and did a few donuts. No one said a word. It took about an hour and a half to get there by car. Then right before you reach the beach, there's a river that you have to go through. It was a good thing I rented a nissan pathfinder because if it was a regular car then we would have had to just turn around.

  • Awesome video. Very inspiring and well made. You totally capture the laid back vibe of life in Central Amercia and Panama. You make me rethink my reluctance to travel now that I have a pregnant wife and a baby on the way. I wrote you a few years ago commenting on your Isla Ometepe video. It's nice to see you are still at it. I've spent about 8 months travelling in Central America these last 9 years, most recently a 4 month jaunt with my wife whos from El Salvador. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice share, great sights, sweet music, THANKS!
