This brings tears to my eyes. It is so beautiful and one of my favorites.

I always wonder why Catholics use non catholic - Anglican/potestant/evangelical - hymns and songs in their services.
Catholic church doesn't consider others as true christians and the present Pope has expressed it clearly and publically a few years ago.
Are not Catholics hypcritical?

It's not Catholic, folks. It's Church of England, so it's an Anglican church. Anglicans, while protestant, have maintained much of the Catholic forms.

This response may be late, but the answer is "not really." If it doesn't conflict with the catechism, we're liable to use it. If it does, then no dice.

But Rome only wants unity on its terms - that is everyone is a Roman Catholic. I belong to the catholic church as does every Christian and surely that should be enough for things like table fellowship. Yet my church is seen as defective and because I do not belong to the club I would be turned away from God's table at the eucharist. That is the big scandal as we are all one in Christ regardless of the tradition we belong to.

@checkitall1 [continued] "...Nor should we forget that anything wrought by the grace of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of our separated brethren can be a help to our own edification. Whatever is truly Christian is never contrary to what genuinely belongs to the faith; indeed, it can always bring a deeper realization of the mystery of Christ and the Church." From Unitatis Redintegratio. Briefly put, although the division among us Christians is a scandal, we should work towards unity in Christ.

@checkitall1 [continued] "However, many Christian communions present themselves to men as the true inheritors of Jesus Christ; all indeed profess to be followers of the Lord but differ in mind and go their different ways..." "On the other hand, Catholics must gladly acknowledge and esteem the truly Christian endowments from our common heritage which are to be found among our separated brethren. For God is always wonderful in His works and worthy of all praise." [see next]

@checkitall1 That's simply not true. Please read the actual documents of the Church. These Christians might not be in full communion with the Church, but are true followers of Christ. This is the official doctrine of the Church. From the Second Vatican Council: "The restoration of unity among all Christians is one of the principal concerns of the Second Vatican Council. Christ the Lord founded one Church and one Church only..." [see next]

Wow. If this music was played in my parish, I'd think that we would faint! The Lord was surely present when R.V. William arranged this tune!!! Praise the Lord in the Highest!
It's very definitely a Catholic Church (ie. Roman Catholic, for the avoidance of doubt). I should know, as I was there for 11 years.

The church is Catholic. This was a service broadcast live on the BBC. The TV programme ended after 40 minutes but the Mass continued with the offertory, eurcharistic prayer, communion etc. So, the congregation was going to Mass as well as participating in a TV programme.
