12 Tips Before Basic Training - GDS Episode 003

I have been given (mostly unsolicited) advice and tips for preparing to ship to army basic combat training. I DO NOT remember all that I was told but I thought I'd try to remember and share the twelve things or tips that seemed to stick in my memory.

If I have forgotten or presented something in error, I am open to your input. That aside and as always I gladly welcome comments and questions.

@luvtwinkie1993 Oh, I know! I hate AKO, but you'll have to get used to using it. To play devil's advocate, AKO is a major portal to every bit of knowledge, help and training you could want to gain. Kinda have to make the best of it and take the good with the bad. :/

You know, joining the army sounds good, but , Obama said that there are gonna be budget cuts with the military, but special forces will still be needed. Should I join the army and then go for green berets? If I join the army and enlist, and then I say that I want to be an officer, which school would they send me to?? Thanks
