  • this guy is way overpayed

  • The UCs were a way to improve lives. Poor families in California labor so their children could go to great universities at a fraction of the cost.

Your compensation package is valued at over 800k/ year. Nothing you say is going to resonate because you are so different than the poor students you represent. You don't know what it means to be a poor student. How can you?

I don't think you've been doing a bad job, but, to me, your work is not worth 800k a year. Sorry.

  • If everything that Yodof says is true, then as an alumni, I will have to agree with most of it. Times are tough, and for those families with income greater than 60K, it will be that much tougher. Faculty are underpaid compared to peer institutions. Sacramento sucks and we cannot count on the state to bail us out.

  • tervanun24, you don't have all the facts. UC's own financial data show that its dependence on state appropriations has decreased over time. Unrestricted revenues have grown more rapidly than spending on education and general services. The people that sign UC's annual financial documents, the fiduciaries, are sworn to tell the truth in a court of law or be personally sued. You don't see them coming to the defense of the University. The "hard reality" is that UC has money.

  • You want union leaders to visit the homes of laid off employees because the union's reponsible? From CUE's latest bargaining report:

Fact: UC gave salary increases to other represented employees during contract negotiations; but offers 0% to CUE employees.

Fact: The University has guaranteed no layoffs for other represented employees agreeing to the Salary Reduction/Furlough Plan; but refuses to give that guarantee to CUE.

MARK YUDOF, HAVE YOU NO SHAME????

  • lies, lies, they have made money hand over fist on the backs of the teachers, students; they placed their money of Ca. with Fidelity Inc. from Tennessee. how much does the Pres. of UC receive.

  • this is bull by the new pres. just to get more money from the people at the expense of the students, teachers and people.

  • ......These times are hard for everyone, not just

old grandma Mary down the street. Not just

the paper boy, but all the "big guys" too.

We can't just sit back and pretend that our

current national (or global) economic state

is not our problem, because it is our problem,

    it's everyone's problem.

  • His final point is very true. For the level of education the UC system provides, as well as many other amenities, us students pay relative low costs to attend. And yes that should remain true due to being a partner of the state of California, but obviously, California is or is running out of money (just like everyone else) and simply can't contribute as much as before. And no this not the peoples direct fault, but what else can we do? .
  • his facts are not straight, Lies!
