So... After the messy attempt at importing a car into UDK I decided to try Unity, and damn, was it so much easier to deal with, for start, if you use the car game tutorial that can be found on Unity site you won't even need to code anything, all you need to do is import the car's fbx file into Unity (which is as easy as drag and drop) and add to it the custom scripts found in the tutorial folder and it's basicly done.

The car materials were easily done with a custom shader editor (forgot it's name) which can be found in the Asset Store for FREE.

The post process effects seen in the video are very easy to use and configurate, but they are only available to Unity Pro (which isn't free).

Also, you see 8 cars in the video, however, if you look closely, they all behave exactly the same, that's because all of them are being controled by the player at the same time. LOL

And finally, there is some lag in the video, but it's mostly because I used Fraps to record, the game runs with frame rate from 64fps to 102fps in 1280x960.

  • @sampsonist make the camera look the "center of mass" of the car, look at point parented to the car, no the model.

  • @Anhslaught well, in unity3d it a matter of a few clicks ;)

    though the controls have to be modified, but that is obvious
