Part I of the American Studies Reconstruction Documentary Project.
NOTE: This documentary only discusses the aftermath of the civil war in the time period leading up to Reconstruction. It DOES NOT discuss the actual process of Reconstruction. I'm sorry if the title seems a bit misleading but I had to name it that way because this was a project for my American Studies class. We were assigned different aspects/time periods of Reconstruction and my group was required to discuss the aftermath of the Civil War, before Reconstruction.

Directed by Ben Herbsman, edited by Ethan Boroson and Victor Patton, narrated by Mark Foote, and featuring CA Reconstruction Expert Jevon Bozzi.

  • Good stuff, guys. The pictures are very helpful and illustrate your main points effectively.

  • this is a good vid

I wish schools would get into the realities of the Reconstruction era, bcuz in my opinion, Sherman's war crimes and the exploitive/vindictive policies of Radical Repubs created a generation of chaos

IMO, it's an historical equivalent to the treatment of defeated Germany after ww1, which led to a whole 'nother world war, the policies of the Radical Republicans didnt lead to a world war, but it set the South into a marginalizing circling of their wagons really until the 1960s.
