To all people from USA or the ROC (Rest of Canada), especially those who hate the HABS (I hate the Bruins and the Leafs, so I don't mind really), when you show respect for a guy like the "Rocket", it shows the real sport spirit that should be part of all of us. Let's the competition go on, but show respect for athletes who deserve it, Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe and so many mores... GO HABS GO (but, for this year, GO CANUCKS GO, bring the cup back home.... please...)

The ovation actually went on for 16 minutes- the longest ovation given to a hockey player! Monsieur Richard definitely deserved this! RIP Rocket, Go Habs Go!!

@musiclovingchick6 - Hi :-) no, it was just under 7 minutes. 16 minutes is what a Vancouver journalist said a few years ago. The video here is uncut and unedited. Many like to believe that the Koivu ovation could not have been longer than the Rocket ovation, so they have added minutes over the years (just like the distance the Rocket skated with a player on his back has increased over the years). Goes to show how the Rocket is not a mere mortal anymore, but an icon with a very strong mythology.
