In 1963, the Yankees would be in the World Series for their fourth staight year, after beating the San Francisco Giants the year before. This year they would face the underdog Dodgers who hadn't been to the World Series in seven years. They were led by Hall of Fame pitchers Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax, and offensively they had the speedy Maury Wills, the two Davis' Tommy and Willie, the veteran who had played against the Yanks in Brooklyn Jim Gilliam, and the powerful Frank Howard. The Yankees were powered by veterans such as Whitey Ford, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle. The Dodgers would sweep the Yankees in four games, finishing it off with a complete game one run allowed victory by Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax.
Even though it was four games...it's not like the Yankees went down easily. The last two games were 1-0 and 2-1.

One correction, the Dodgers had only been away from the World Series for 4 years (1959 WS champs), and not 7 years.
