  • There would be no need for those crappy jitneys if NJ Transit buses ran at a better frequency. Hudson County has over 16k people per square mile. With that kind of density, they could EASILY support much better frequencies than they currently run. Some routes only run once every half an hour (or even worse on weekends). You can't expect people to stand around waiting forever because they just missed the last bus.

  • @theraptorfan100

For example, if you want to take this bus to NY on a Saturday, and just miss the 1:03PM bus, the next bus doesn't show up until 1:33PM. That's ridiculous! No wonder people are taking jitneys instead of waiting around 29 minutes for the next bus. NJT needs to get with the program and run FREQUENT SERVICE, at least on the major routes. If they did that the jitneys wouldn't be needed.

  • @theraptorfan100 I think the president of NJT might be thinking about Service increases on routes usually served by Jitneys per se the 84, 86, 88, 125, 128, 159, 161, 171 and 190 as well, there needs to be a lot of service increases on a lot of those routes and NJT may be thinking about purchasing more buses to meet that demand.

  • @theraptorfan100 I got to agree with you, NJT Needs to operate more frequent service on major routes like the 159, 84 and other routes, I mean most people take the Jitneys and all they get is they ride on a trashy Big Taxi, those Jitneys have gotta go, NJT Needs Service increases to eliminate the Jitneys altogether.

  • @theraptorfan100 Listen, most people take the Jitneys because it costs less, but I don't find them worth it!!! 1; the seats are mostly transit seats once used by a major transit company or have been torn up, 2; most of the drivers of those big taxis do not speak an ounce of English, 3; they make too many stops @ bus stops and outside bus stops and 4; they're a big waste of time, money and convenience. Most of those Junk buses flunk inspections too; TIME TO GET RID OF THEM!!!
