If you've seen Samoan performances back in the day, yes they do have the same little things hanging off their costumes, it's not just Tongan's.

@RenoAnoai1891 -- what exactly would you consider "Samoan" ofu? o le puletasi? 'o le 'ie faitaga? those are colonial era clothes from the palagi Christians. read some books on the topic, like "Samoan Art & Artists" or "Samoan Material Culture" and you will see that old Samoan and Tongan la'ei were very similar but we adopted the palagi puletasi more strongly. it would do our tupulaga talavou a lot of good to actually research into their roots, including the la'ei ma 'ofu anamua.
