  • Hey Jakey756, thanks for the informative video. I also bought an 8/1 from Diesel- Electric Service. Did you have to replace any gaskets before running it? I've been thinking about just buying a full gasket set before tearing my 8/1 down for the pre-run inspection.

  • @segarza So far I've been able to reuse all the gaskets. The head gasket was a nice copper gasket. All the other gaskets I've been able to save so i haven't needed new ones. That being said having a spare gasket set handy is always a good thing to have.

  • Nice vid. Shame about the problems. Sounds like it was better they didn't paint it all. Though the black on the flywheels looked rather nice. Curious to know how it is running these days after all the work you put into fixing it up. Specially if you had run into other problems not shown on your video.

  • @Jimfoxyboy There was several little problems i had to correct after purchasing it. A quick list being. valve seats reground, cylinder honed, lifters reground. Right now its not doing anything because I'm in college but we are hoping to belt up either a pump or generator to it this coming summer.

  • Any updates on the Listeroid?

  • @davidstonner I have sense "rebuilt" the top end. I had the head and jug off and had to do some work and it now runs better. I only got pics but am working on making a slide show of the problems i found and putting it up here sometime soon.

  • @jakey756 I wish you luck on that and college then. Hope to see some videos of it running in the new setup when you get the chance.

  • @jakey756

    Very nice video! Thank you.

I am considering the same engine (do you want to sell yours?!!) Could you PM me about the details of your engine and the purchase (did you pickup or have shipped, ect.)

  • Damn shame about the quality control issues with those engines- they have the potential for huge sales if they get it right.

  • Yes it runs great. I would buy again. Takes about a day of general cleaning and fixing to get it running GOOD. It will run out of the crate, however about every banjo fitting leaks like crazy and the sump is full of a mud like oil. I will try to post an update soon.
