  • That's a FWD 5 speed manual transmission Insight. But the gears are so tall and far apart that I only need 2nd and 3rd gear on that track. 1st gear goes to 60km/hr (35 miles/hour). 2nd gear hits redline at 110 km/hr (65miles/hour). And 3rd gear can reach the car's maximum speed of 180km/hr (but that requires an extremely long straight not found on any race track i've even been on).

  • I'm intrested in buying an Insight, is the pedal placement sufficient for heel-and-toe downshifts? Not that I plan on hunting down 'Vettes.

  • The Insight's pedal placement is excellent for heel-and-toe downshifts. Much better pedal placements then most cars, easily better then most,if not all, American sports cars.

I know from personal experience that the pedal placement of the Ford GT supercar is not very good, I talked to one of the design engineers about that he said Ford lawyers wouldn't let them put the pedals closer together!

  • About 12 days/ year I'm an in-car instructor at several advanced performance driving courses and track schools so I've driven most types of cars.

  • we all know corvetts suck, well we japs know, americans are still finding out. why the insight to the track though, saving our plannet, cool

  • Why drive the Insight on the track?

Simple answer really, that was my only car at the time.

  • @astroboyracer247 yea it like the prius and honda cr-z have electric motor can help with gas engine than without it cause lost hp and torque when i use it in gt4 and gt psp before i get ps3 slim and gt5 have hybrid and electric cars still there plus 3 new hybrid cars came to it for drive.

  • @DelilahThePig because they remover 5 speed mt before put cvt on 2nd gen insight due to more fuel but it weight little increase due to four door and seat for family

  • So you caught up a novice WOMAN who didn't even own the 'vette.. Ya great job there boss.

  • @airsoftboy They stopped making this generation in 2006, followed by the near total re-design of late. I still drive an '05 with MT as my primary vehicle and it's laughable to think about racing it. Although the design is sporty and has very good aerodynamics, the engine is a 3 cylinder 1.0 liter with a maximum power (coupled with a fully charged electric motor) of less than 100 h.p. The new Insight is a 4-cylinder family car and does not have the option of MT.

  • What a load of crap. That Vette didn't know or care that you were even on the same track. He probably didn't want to be seen with you. Buy a car for god's sake.

  • i dont understand why some cars have tall ratio's..never driven a insight but would'nt it be better if the ratio's were 50,90,125,160 then fifth gear..i used to own a 99 integra type r and the ratio's went something like that...the engine was always in powerband(6500)rpm when u shift up...good vid anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is that insight MT? Do they even make MT insights? Also, are they FWD or RWD? man, such wierd new looking cars lol's.

  • I've started to prefer Shannonville because it's so much larger. It gives you more to do for a track day. The elevation changes at DDT are wonderful though, and it's great on brakes.

  • wow imagine if someone put a k20 engine in an insight and tuned the suspension correctly. it might actually be decently fast with a good driver...i mean, it's no corvette, but it's a cheap start
