Here is my documentary series of my last day in Ireland, spent in Dublin.
The weather sucked. Constant rain and very cold. Just like home sweet home, Chicago.
Had it not been for the weather, I could have seen more stuff. I missed south of the Liffey, didn't get into Trinity College nor see the Book of Kells.
From what I'm told I didn't miss anything by not going to Temple Bar - I can get the same food and drink at home but pay less than half the price.
I am happy that i trekked up to Croke Park, where they play the Gaelic Games. This is the one thing truly unique to Ireland, is their sport of Gaelic Football and Gaelic Hurling.
I wanted to find some GAA sport wear but couldn't find a good selection on Henry street at any of the department stores, or at least for a reasonable price. The Everly's in Croke Park has the best selection, and has all the sport wear from all the counties.
My new friends Frank and Tim from the Bed and Breakfast needed to go up to the airport, so they accompanied me up there and afterwards, showed me how to take the bus into the city center.
I also met a pair of new friends at the Celt Bar, to catch the big football game Ireland vs. Bulgaria for the qualification. They were from Bulgaria :) Too bad for Anna and Daniel that it ended up being a draw. Was all over the papers the next day.
So as these videos go along you will see the effect of the pints on me. I guess I am a lightweight.
thanks for the offer mate but i think iv had enough experince of chicago to do me for a while:) i stopped off there on my way to Los Angles about 3 years ago, (so it was really only the airport i got to experience) but i was so happy to get out of that place. terrible place, really angry people there, maybe they were all just having a really really bad day/ or didnt like the look of our pale irish skin?! i think if im ever stopping by ill drive and skip the airport lol
