Nandita Das has had a successful career as an actor, staring in over 30 features , but the events of the 2002 Gujarat riots and subsequent violent fallout called her to go deeper in the question of why man is violent. Her opening at the Zeigfield inspired Paula Gloria to go farther down the rabbit hole as well as Alan Steinfeld who surprised Nandita asking questions she thought would only come up to Hindus and Muslims familiar with the pain of Indian politics.

  • Nandita is a consciousless ,deceiver, dishonest. Why did not you study the QQURRAN ? and Bible and Bhagavadgita . ISLAM is based on hatred, violence, killing, rape, fascism. Hindu dharma is the most peaceful, most loving, most tolerant. Study islamic countries, study islamic societies, ISLAMIC history. Nandita will not have peace even on her death bed. NANDITA do not what is ISLAM !!! don't know what is HINDU DHARMA !! what is christianity!!!!

  • @allembrace what is Christianity? I am one and I feel nervous about your tone here...

  • 30:00 Alan Steinfeld accuses Nandita of being pro Muslim

  • "The division happened much more IN THE MIND than anything else. So true.

thx for your comment. IN the future if you put the exact time in like 8:15 then it creates automatically what I call a "go to" button so that people can go right to the part you mean.

Without listening to the whole thing again I remember being impressed at how hard she has worked at this project - feeling the possibility for understanding between two groups to be so close. Nandita has a powerful and sincere energy

  • it is hard not to be impressed with Nandita - how she just rolls up her sleeves and does the job no one else is doing...and does it so well!

  • Hi Paula, i am impressed with this video...Nandita is brilliant.

  • I am sorry, i do not get what you mean by eastern values. Homosexuality is NOT a product to promote not it is not a chosen lifestyle for people to follow it. I am a gay from India and I know about my sexuality well before i was introduced to internet or the so called western culture. And i dont want to talk bout this in this post further as it is irrelevant here.

  • The way fire portrays homosexuality it is only promotion. Fire is an attack against eastern values. You can deny but it is fact.

  • ~afghanmountainking~

Fire did not promote homosexuality, it just showed the existence of homosexuality in Indian culture.

  • she is fairly courageous but there is an other level to the strife...I now see the jewish issue coming up even in India and I thought the interaction between her and Alan was particularly brilliant but they both could go farther

  • being professional and doing things you like in real life are two completely different things.

she is an artist in the film and a humanitarian in personal life..
