Also, in agreement with the highest rated comments above, the BNP (British National Party - check them out on wikipedia if you are unfamiliar) is a party which appeals to leftist and socialist values, much like the Nazi party did. They are an offshoot of the 'labour' part, the British sister party of the democrats. They are left wingers. Look at their policies and see. Coincidentally, they are the biggest bunch of scumbags in Britain, promoting racism and aggression. Correlation? I think so.

Hitler was a member of the German National Socialist party - which would make him a left winger in U.S. politics, along with the other socialist and communist parties.  In fact a lot of Hitler's ideas (free healthcare, free college, gov't running of businesses) are exactly the same ideas embraced today in leftist american politics.

@harleykman You're right, but what you need to understand is that while both Hitler AND Mussolini supported private property, they NEVER supported private CONTROL. IE farmers in Italy were allowed to keep their land and were even subsidized (already a socialist move) but they were under government control and direction. The difference was was that if it was privately owned they'd know better how to look after and run it, but it was all under state direction and control.

The Nazis and especially Mussolini, had a lot in common with the communists. They both supported free healthcare, free housing programs, government control of production/ factories, and so on

The only real difference is Mussolini, etc supported private land ownership while they communists did not. So they BOTH lie on the same Left end of the American political spectrum

@djcizme 1. Your country(Canada) is taking steps to end universal health care..it doesn't work and is not fair. 2. I am not saying there should be no regulation, but I am not in favor of corporatism(fascism)where the government strong arms buisness into becoming part of the state. That is FASCIST numbskull, and how would anyone know if the free market could... especially in our life time? 3. Progressive taxation was and is a fascist for of taxation. Plain and simple.
