As with any HT its pretty limited. 10 miles or so, but I bought a nice Diamond SRJ77 antenna to replace the standard rubber duck and it seems to help. I've been talking INSIDE the car (no external antenna) and hitting repeaters that are about 10-15 miles away, so that gives me hope that when I get a roof mount it'll be alot better!
