Border Control Zone "Portal Sarpi" to be opened

A state border control zone "Portal Sarpi" will be opened in Georgia's Adjara region today.
Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili and Turkish Premier Rejep Taip Erdogan will open Sarpi renewed customs checkpoint.

The zone will be equipped with modern technologies that will speed up and facilitate customs procedures both for physical persons and companies.

The new border control zone infrastructure will contribute to the efficient cargo turnover and increase of tourists' flow in the country.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze stated that the agreement on simplified regime of crossing border for citizens of both countries will be signed. According the agreement citizens of Georgia will be able to cross the border from 1 July wit ID cards.

A face to face meeting between President Saakashvili and the Turkish Premier is planned. Relations between the countries will be discussed.
