Psalm 117 by Greg Knauf
This is a contemporary setting of Psalm 117. Knauf uses modern harmonies and lush tone clusters to create a warm and inviting arrangement. He alters the time signature throughout to ensure proper word stress and to bring clarity to the text. The piece begins with the women of the choir performing a random chant on the text Laudate Dominum. This gives the piece and ethereal quality that remains throughout until the entire choir ends with the same technique on the word aeternum (eternity).
