ok im getting a ps1 (fat) in a week from my pawn shop and will this damage the ps1 over time or will it stay fine doing this alot?

The ps1 will work fine, its not like the console will stop working or anything.
here are the direction
open the ps1's outer cover. 1st take out the screws at the bottom of the ps1 then remove the top part of the ps1. you will see a hole that is supposed to sensor if the hatch is closed or not. jam some tissue in there really well and put tape over it. put the ps1 back together and now you can play games with the disc hatch open,or closed
