A common jellyfish sting should be treated by rubbing wet sand on the area and using solutions from a first-aid kit, including vinegar, ammonia and aloe vera gel. Use ammonia to treat jellyfish stings with tips from a street firefighter in this free video on first aid and medical treatments.

  • just to clarify things..

you can't be bitten by a "sting ray",

it's not called a sting ray, just a Ray.. people called them that because they stung.

Jellyfish don't bite, in case you never noticed they really have no teeth and no real mouth, well it's bum and mouth are the same thing.

  • I need to pee.... Yes! Somebody got stung by jellyfish!

  • Got jellyfish stung as a kid in the Gulf. Lifeguard ran out of whatever he was squirting on people for it (lots of people got stung). I used wet sand and it worked. Didn't know I was doing what you are supposed to do. I just knew it made it feel so much better. Never saw the jelly that did it, their tentacles can get 30 feet or so long. Left cute little "railroad" looking marks on my legs. Hurt like hell!

  • Don't use sand

  • This guy got stung by boxed jelly fish 5 times and he died and saw heaven and hell!!

  • what if you don't feel like your gonna piss

  • @Mohanned40

the skin will heal with time

perhaps a few months or so

my friend got stung quite badly on his chest

within a few months the scar was gone

  • I was getting dragged slowley with a ski rope looking for Lobsters in the Fl Keys.

My attention span was on the bottom and a ManOWar bumped my neck and right shoulder. In addition to that pain, the Boat Prop hit another one and chewed it up.

I swam thru that mess on the way back to the boat. Ruined the day. I used the vinegar, seawater, aloe method. I survived.

  • I've never been stung by a jelly fish in my life. After my trip to the beach I got stung by a jellyfish not once, not twice, not thrice, but GOD DAMMIT FOUR TIMES!!! In the fourth time, the jellyfish climbed on my bottom left leg with ALL of its tentacles attached on me!! The pain is gone and now I have a MASSIVE scar on my leg can anyone tell me how to get rid of it quickly?

P.S. I'm NEVER going to the beach ever again unless if I wear a FULL suit of ARMOR (or if I wear a scuba diving suit)!

  • @RaginAznpinoy I just fell out of my chair laughing after I read that...LOL!
