The Power of Nightmares is a three hour long presentation of the BBC and is an excellent history of how we come find ourselves fighting a war on terror in the first decade of the 21st century. The first hour presented here in six parts traces the development of two movements the American neo-conservatives who came out of ideas developed by University of Chicago professor Leo Strauss and fundamentalist Islam as developed by Sayed Kotb an Egyptian teacher turned revolutionary who founded The Muslim Brotherhood. Both movements were in reaction against secular liberalism and we see them grow and begin gain power in the seventies.

  • Not just that, what the people could resist through education and example, now is forced upon them through strengthened police states. Anyone objecting along Islamic principles can be dubbed/labelled a terrorist. You NEVER fight fire w/fire. You fight it w/water. The powers that be provoke. And an idiot w/an Ak-47 can't bring down the system that makes, sells, the weapons youre trying to use against them. And he's supposed to be a visionary(zawahry)...more like blind ambition.

    peace/salam

  • 5:35.....damn! they did it again!! didnt they learn the first time? when they made the initial leader a martyr! now they harden the foes resolve even more!!

  • the assassination of Sadat was a tactical error. by doing this, they created the "John Wilkes Booth Syndrome". meaning that though Sadat was a western puppet, the population(even many of his opponents), still liked him as a person. just as many southerners admired Lincoln!! therefore, the Muslim Brotherhood has gained more enemies than friends. they are now like John Wilkes Booth on the run in the swamps!
