  • @metrocityrr I understand what your saying, but even Amtrak says in their 40th Year Anniversary Book that the E60s were "unsuccessfull", But I do agree with the GG1's... even though it would take over 1 million to make one today!

  • @1985MANAmericana

GG1s were retired in 1983, so that means he would be 7 years old.

  • Those E60s, even with their problems, had some serious muscle!

  • Amtrak needs to bring back the e60s again and gg1s also those old metroliners if those trains were made in america then all they have to do is put in some newer technology on them because scrapping them was a waste

  • It's the Crescent which always ran with one box or mail car at the end. This was the last of the good old "Amtrak" days with long consists and Union Pacific/Southern Pacific leg rest coaches. Noticed that Amlounge in the middle, to bad they eliminated the heritage lounge cars.

  • @TJBV08 This is absolutely the Crescent/Gulf Breeze.

  • @TJBV08 I think your right!!! broadway sometimes had one amfleet coach and one amfleet cafe or lounge I didnt see that on this train

  • @prfsnlwannabe they still use the heritage dining cars if you look at todays shots or consist list you will see that most times there is a heritage dining car on the trains especialy silver service and a few other long distance trains

  • @magicalfingers33 Looking at the way the consist was put together it was the Crescent.

  • @prfsnlwannabe You can still catch heritage diners on the Crescent, All Silver Service Trains, and on the Lake Shore Limited out of Manhattan, all baggage car are still as of heritage fleet. I do remember Amtak's CLOCKER trains of nothing but all heritage coaches, but not anymore.

  • Ohhhh the days of all phase 3 paint and a Crescent full of heritage cars except for the Amfleet 2 dinette/cafe. At least you can still see one E60 in Strasberg PA at the PA museum.

  • @magicalfingers33 It's the Crescent/Gulf Breeze. I corrected my initial comment a few weeks ago.

  • @1985MANAmericana doubt if it was silver service, silver service was running amfleet II coaches by this time This has to be city of neworleans the cresent or broadway limited....

  • Wow, do any Amtrak trains still have ANY Heritage cars of any sort left anymore? I thought at least the Heritage dining cars had all been retired(if somehow not all Heritage cars), but maybe I'm wrong on this. I miss the old Heritage cars that once ran on Amtrak much more often than they do today. (that is, if they even run anymore!)

  • @1985MANAmericana I must correct myself: This is the Crescent/Gulf Breeze, not the Crescent.

  • @outatime1955 if you were born in 1976, you wouldn't have been old enough to remember the GG1s.

  • Man i miss this This was a real passenger train. I dont know what amtrak is running today 10 car consist or less seems like a regional train

  • @6V92TA YEAH miss them dearly

  • Nice! I miss the E60s!

  • The e60 has a cool horn

  • Awesome video! I miss the phase III paint scheme.

  • Only an E60 can pull Heritage cars wit pride and look good doin it!

  • It most certainly does. I thought the video description dated this to 1981, not 1989. By 1989, the Heritage trains were primarily the Crescent, City and Broadway.

  • The almost-all-Heritage consist denotes the Crescent.

  • What is the long-distance train? Crescent or Silver Service?
