@washmyclothes The coaster was in Myrtle Beach. MB was nearly wiped off the map a couple decades ago by a Category 5 hurricane. I believe it was Hurricane Hugo that inspired this coaster. They get hit about every 2-3 years.

@94XJ Sonny may or may not ever run again...seems like we'll probably know it's fate in about a year when KI decides whether to repair it or replace it...

@rollergator The filming was decent...now these trains are on Son of Beast...a woody that truly deserves it's initials.

Is that the one at Myrtle Beach? If so, that is an intense coaster. I rode it once.

why the hell u name dis vid 'hurricane category 5'?

That was the given name of this rollercoaster. I imagine there may have been some trademarking on the generic "Hurricane" for a rollercoaster by the time it was constructed...but that's a guess.

Yes, that was the coaster that WAS at the Pavilion in Myrtle....terrible ride, but nonetheless it was EXTREMELY sad to see the place close in favor of MORE condos, hotels, restaurants, and gift shops...
