honda crf450 engine noise

Noise coming from engine. Just had new piton and rings and all new bearings replaced. Was making the exact same noise before replacment of parts. What could this be, is it normal. The mechanic said that that was normal for the 450, my buddy has the exact same bike 2002 crf450r. It doesn't have any engine noise.

they dont hit the piston. the tick noise is the gap being to far between the rocker arm and the top of the valve

Mine sounds exactly the same, even after a complete rebuild. I just live with it now.

its the clutch cushions 100% just replace outter clutch basket and ull have a smooth bike again

it's your crank rod it got up and down movement tha piston is hitting tha top of your header... i know.... and now u need a new piston and your mechanic can say he is not a mechanic b/c that is not normal

I know this is an old vid but others likely have the same problem with the CRF450r. And replacing the top end doesn't usually fix the problem. The problem is likely movement of the piston from side to side because the top of the connecting rod is worn. The pistons have very small skirts so this is a big problem on these bikes. Best way to fix it is to do the crank and rod combo. To test, pull the piston off and slide the pin through and see if it wiggles up and down on either side.
