I just got into sheep myself. Luckily, I have katahdins, a "hair" breed of sheep that don't require shearing and are more resistant to internal parasites so with careful management require no/minimal worming. If you go with a wooled breed, as most are, you should shear them when it gets warm so they don't overheat. If you hire a shearer, they will buy the wool from you. Although wool demand is going down, so sometimes the shearing fee is more than the value of the wool.
