Yamada sensei's name appears along side the famous in the historic Sekiryu Kan Dojo, as one who completed the session of 1000 throws. Dr Kano sent Yamada sensei to study Aikido with Morihei Ueshiba Sensei after the war. As a live-in student he began private training with the founder in Wakayama Prefecture. Yamada later returned to Tokyo where he met and began training with Professor Kenji Tomiki whose approach and training system in Aikido had a major influence on his thinking.
Aikido is aikido. It is not matter if is it Aikikai, or ki Aikido, or Tomiki...Principles are the same. Only becouse some style's are harder, doesen't mean, that they are better. It depends of a aikidoka and his skills. Sorry about my bad eanglish.
Oh right sorry i thought it was directed at me. I asked him why months ago and hes not answered so i gather he cant give one. I dont see anything wrong with aikikai its all aikido so long as the principles are there. My guess was that because he didnt see people flying all over the place it was rubbish. Whatever the reason anyone that calls Yamadas aikido or judo rubbish clearly hasnt got a clue anyway. The bloke was champion back before weight divisions and hes about 7 stone. Says it all really
