I drove past the crash site in the dark. My mom said there's a cross and flowers in font of the place where it crashed.

@plasticspastic: it would be great fun watching a plane crash with YOU on board, no one else, just you. With several cameras watching.. All nicely positioned to catch your stupid face, all white as a sheet.. And then one under your seat, to watch the growing shit stain! Ahh ha ha ha ha ha HAAHH! That's Kicks! That's real Kicks! ROFLMAO!!

@Pvjinflight Go look up Airbus mechanical failures, man... I just cited the first three of a whole list of examples of Airbus planes failing. It's been two months, so I don't even remember what my point was... but I do know that calling Boeing murderers is punitive and hyperbolic, particularly in light of the fact that thousands of Boeing plans take off and land safely every day, and in light of the fact they're not the only company to have a hull loss due to mechanical failure.

@lekoman Actually in history of Airbus there is 0 fatal accidents that have been caused by any kind of design error, Air France 296 unlike popular belief was caused by pilot error too, automatic system just prevented him from stalling the plane which would have probably resulted more deaths.

@lekoman Cause of Lufthansa 2904 was incorrect actions and decisions of flight crew, not aircrafts fault. American 587 was not fault of Airbus at all, pilot was trained using incorrect training program which taught him to use rudder way too aggressively which created high G forces that would have broken any aircraft. Hapag Lloyd 3378 was pilot error, FMC was not made to calculate gear down fuel consumption. Nobody was killed in that accident btw.

So terrible crash

Guy's, I have to tell you all. This was my mother's plane. She worked on this plane right before it took off, She went into her office the next day and the FAA was tearing her office apart. She will never forget that.

@plasticspastic201 LOL... ok.

@lekoman airbus are shit too. deal with it.
This accident was caused by temperature variations in the hydraulic fluid in the rudder acuator. the plane descended rapidly from flight levels, where the temp's were sub zero to temperate altitudes. The fluid going into the actuator was much warmer, and the sudden change made the rudder get shifted full left. This was a terrible tragedy, which also occurred in a United 737 landing at Coloarado Springs. The problem has been corrected.

The failure is contributed to the Rudder PCU "Dual Servo Valve". I worked at a Repair Station that was involved at the time with helping the FAA and Boeing to functional test and identify the cause. It was found that if the locking feature of the dual servo valve retaining nut failed, due to improper installation, the nut would loosen and back-off. When the nut had backed-off far enough, the dual servo valve failure could be duplicated.
