Wow!What is worse, the performance or the music choice?? In tandoku undo, the 4th set is about the low balance break of the Dai Yon, not having the hand palm up. The 5th set, arms are everywhere but in the center... Poor.

Lol. WTF?!!! Someone is being funny, right?! Just for those who don't know, there are many styles of Aikido. There's Yoshinkan, Yoseikan, Aikikai, Iwama-ryu, Shin-shin Toitsu (Ki), Tomiki-ryu, etc. I think this Tomiki but it looks like a joke. I train in both Aikikai, a hard style, and Yoshinkan, a very hard style (used in the military). I'm not familiar with this shit at all... No offense to anyone. It looks crazy to me, even as a dance number.

This is the most DIRE thing I have ever seen in my aiki history. These are supposed to be DAN grades???? Look on the bright side, it makes our kyu grades look fantastic.

The BAA should ban this kind of demo, it is derogatory to aikido and makes us look a laughing stock. Aiki to music is bad enough, CRAP aiki to music is worse, but CRAP aiki drills to music????? take away their dan grades and burn em at the stake.

And as far as moving off the line? You are supposed to be moving Uke around you not the other way round.

Please, anyone looking to start Aikido. This is not Aikido. This is a sport.

The music does suck...but you are missing the point. This is Tegatana No Kata. This is used to teach moving off the line of attack. It's part of class warmup...at least where I train. Not sure why anyone would pick it for a demonstration...it's very boring. Step forward. Step backwards. Step sideways. We practice it to learn how to move our center off the line of attack or toward if doing shomen ate. It depends on the situation.

THAT is NOT representative of the British Aikido Association! Call that "Aiki-Robics" if you wish, but not Aikido. It falls short of what unsoku & tandoku-undo should be. Don't know if I should laugh or cry.
