We have established many great relationships with established real estate professionals such as Adrian Goldstein, Steve Wasserman, and Jonah Goldrich. The other day we were on the Pomona Courthouse steps at a trustee sale. Steve Wasserman, Adrian Goldstein, and Jonah Goldrich were teamed up to acquire a property through a trustee sale. We took the experience to learn more about the entire process and get some face to face time with Mr. Goldrich.
Jonah is currently in his eighties but you would never believe it. His mind is sharp and his business prowess is fierce. We learned a myriad of information from Jonah and also had fun listening to his jokes. Jonah is a fellow member of the Moriah Society and we look forward to seeing him again at the beginning of October for our next Moriah breakfast meeting.
From Jonah, the number one lesson I learned was that cash is king. In these economic times, those who have stockpiled cash reserves are able to negotiate very effectively. Also, Jonah explained the significance of not falling in love with any property. He has seen many people buy properties that they were emotionally attached to and find out after they purchased it how much problems they were getting into.
In the evening we learned a lot about the current recession and where the economists believe the market is heading. Most of them believed that the market was at or near its bottom. Also, most agreed that the recovery from this recession is going to be a long drawn out one. Only time will tell.
Stay tuned for the progress on our current rehab project on Monterey Street in Bakersfield.
