Verizon Foundation Awards More Than $200,000 to Domestic Violence Prevention Programs in Massachusetts
To help address the continuing issue of domestic violence, the Verizon Foundation is donating $205,000 to 19 nonprofit agencies in Massachusetts for programs that engage men in the prevention of domestic violence, promote healthy relationships among teens and young adults, and use technology to improve the reach of services that help survivors.
The nonprofit agencies were honored by Verizon at an event that was hosted by the Sport in Society, a Northeastern University Center, and that focused on engaging men in the prevention of domestic violence. Angelo McClain, Massachusetts commissioner of child and family services, and Don McPherson, activist, ESPN college football analyst and College Football Hall of Famer, who are both leaders in men's engagement initiatives, were keynote speakers at the event, which was held on Friday (Oct. 28) and attended by more than 100 community leaders.
I dropped Verizon because of BS like this. While these DV groups actually LAUGHED when I called for help, they were fast to act on false claims by my ex. Verizon just helps enforce this type of problem and will not see a penny from me anymore. Now they want my money for cancelling early but I don't see them paying anything to help with the counseling and rest my children have to receive after years of physical and sexual abuse by their mother that these groups actually DEFENDED doing it!
