@zoraanderic a bassline is the sequence of notes (within a measure or musical phrase) played by a low pitched instrument, in this case a bass guitar.

Top comment here is (I think) a bit of a mislabel actually. What Braenshild82 meant was that this is the best "groove" ever as there really isn't much in the way of bass "line" here. In this one the bass is just punctuating the harmonic center. It is a killer groove though no doubt.

For a great bassline think of something like Chic's "Good Times."

Neo soul! I can not stand that description/title!! Call it what it is....SOUL!! Maxwell has many hot songs and albums to his credit, but I dont know if he can top his young self, on "Embrya." Monumental! I could see hip-hop inspiring this track, but hip-hop had nothing to do with this. Blame it on the SOUL!
