SHHH! This recipe was garnered, swiped or procured, if you will, in a manner which I am not proud to admit. My very good friend Celeste promised me for years that she would give me this recipe. To no avail, she always seemed to forget. But a few years ago, (5 to be precise) she moved from where we once lived and in the process, asked me to help pack her kitchen. There it was, in all it's secret glory, THE recipe, an email copy from her mother placed on the back of the spice cabinet with a piece of scotch tape. What was I to do? The last thing I remember was getting home and finding that recipe in my bag. I don't know how it got there and I am not going to question the universal forces that shined upon me on that day. Please promise not to tell! ; )
Here is what you will need to make Chicken Divan:
1 rotisserie chicken, meat taken from the bone and shredded. Or you can boil or steam about 4 chicken breasts and then cool and shred them.
2 14 ounce bags of broccoli florets 2 cans of cream of Chicken soup 1 cup mayonnaise 1 cup sour cream 1 Tablespoon lemon juice (I left this out) 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese divided 1/4 to 1/2 cup of grated parmesean cheese Ground pepper Paprika
In the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish, place your frozen broccoli, lay the shredded chicken on top of that. Next, mix your sauce;
In a bowl, combine the soup, sour cream, mayo and one cup of shredded cheddar as well as the lemon juice. Mix well and pour over the layered broccoli and chicken.
Spread evenly and sprinkle with the remaining cup of cheddar cheese, the parmesan cheese and then pepper and paprika.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until all the cheese is melted and the casserole is browned and bubbly.
Serve this over or next to some steamed rice and/or some french bread and a green salad.
This is one of my favorites! Has been ever since Celeste brought it to me after Molly was born. Nothing beats this dish! Rick and I had it at our wedding! It can be everyday or you can serve this to guests.
I hope you try this, and I hope you enjoy it. Until next time, See Ya!

good recipe you little shedevil...lol....did i hear you right? musical theatre? will we ever see "what's for dinner?" with you singing and dancing the instructions? hmm..."A STREETCAR NAMED NOREEN cassarole", noreen"s "CATS" chicken stew. you gotta do at least one.....hehehehhe...your on the spot now...
WELL......maybe I'll just do a vid of me singing. Singing and cooking could be a dangerous combo! Performing on stage has always been a big part of my life. Haven't done anything though in the last few years, but hoping to get involved in the future. Thanks for the comment!
This is a great recipe. I make it as often as I can. I put stovetop stuffing over the cream and chicken / mayo and drizzle melted butter on top of that. It makes this recipe pop. Try it, you'll want to make it every night!
You are SO fun to watch! I've smiled thru this whole video. You have a wonderful personality! BTW... this recipe looks awesome and I WILL be making it very soon. Thanks for the recipe and the fun time! Lynn
Another 'liberated' recipe !! It looks great and I will give it a whirl later this week. Thanks good-lookin' . I've been using 1/2 cream of chicken and 1/2 cream of mushroom in some recipes and it seems to work out great. I'm going to try it that way.
Thanks Cindy and yes, I do have a bit of a rotten side, but it mostly comes out as sarcasm. But to answer your question, I prefer the cream of chicken soup. The cream of mushroom is not a flavorful, but I have used either depending on what is on the shelf and have had success. If you use the mushroom soup, add some chicken boullion granules if you have them, if not, no worries. Thanks for watching and commenting! Noreen
