  • Dear Rick - BBs in the 70's seem to have been training each muscle group fairly frequently compared with today's "standards". The late M. Mentzer and than Dorian in the 90's popularized HIT approach - infrequent (ca. once a week) and low volume workouts for each muscle but done to beyond failure. Standard of the 70's and 80's was high volume and more frequent workouts (ca. 2x weekly) for each muscle. Which approach makes more sense in your opinion?

  • @biglabrador I believe twice a week works better for me, but some do once a week. It's just personal preference

  • Hey Ric,

Your Videos are great man !

    I've one question:

How many seconds/minutes do i have rest between my sets?

  • @TheGAMEsZOCKER 30 sec

  • Ric, Really great Segment !...The old Gold's Gym IS still there; and it's very mysterious..do you happen to know who owns it now and what it is used for (lookis like a business)

  • @catdaddy21870 I think it's a house now. Not sure but that's what it was when Gold's moved out

  • Thanks Ric, Arnolds arms are one of the main reasons I started training back in the 80's.

  • @ricdrasin Suggesting people train bodyparts once or twice weekly as per personal preference sounds like profoundly bad advice. If a muscle is trained hard or to failure, for most people there is no way that muscle would have gone through a recovery and growth phase in the space of 3 days. Most bodybuilders today, even those on high dosages are sticking to bodyparts once per week. Many natural HIT trainers are extending that to 8 - 10 days.

  • Sort of unrelated, but I would liek to know how you guys delt with stretch marks? This seem to be a developing issue with me as my muscles increase in size.

  • great videos rick. 70s were the best..

  • Excellent videos, really enjoy them! It's nice to learn about the history of the sport. Thanks for sharing this great information with us.

  • Thanks for saying not to train on an empty stomach no wonder. When I go to the gym and after a few sets, I feel sick or wanna throw up. For now on, on arms days, I'm gonna eat something light like some rice or something then go work out. On legs, of course L-arginine and ornithine, so can't eat with those.

  • @jasoneric1981 Some muscles might recover, others wont. Have you ever done a chest workout and still had sore pecs 2 -3 days later? If you trained chest again in 3 days you would be circumventing the whole process. Even if you have recovered will you have allowed enough time for growth which must always follow recovery?

Try once every 7 days for a while and make the comparison. Cheers.

  • @xanthromera The muscle recovers in 36 hours so to me 3 days sounds adequate.

  • @steroidsR4losers Go outside, you loser.
