A cardanic joint makes the pendulum able to freely move on both X and Y axis.

Un giunto cardanico consente al pendolo di muoversi liberamente su entrambi gli assi X e Y.

  • really impressive - if you found a way to put a pen on the end it would make a harmonograph

  • Yes, it's what in mathematics are called Lissajous curves. I'm wonderig how to do it... I have a little idea...

  • can u make that with magnetix

  • A pen with a metal casing would either not have enough pressure to write, or if it did, would cause too much friction. Why not just set a flat tray of sand under it with a pointer to scratch into it (maybe the ball on the end would be enough?)

Or...Iron filings under a sheet of clear acetate? Let the magnet do the work?

  • Your a genius!

  • get a pen with metal casing

  • what's next? an engine? here's an idea: try to make a crankshaft-piston model. or, hmm. try a rack-and-pinion steering model.

  • cool
