@pianomags I'd put Horne first on the list too, but maybe also add Frederica Von Stade and Joyce Di Donato. Jenkins just doesn't have the voice, technique, breathing, phrasing, and for this aria in particular, the coloratura technique. Pretty sloppy. And that vibrato!

@jason. They're slagging her off & it's a bit bitchy, but with reason - she isn't ready to sing these big arias and whoever's mentoring her has exposed her to works currently beyond her.. I really feel for her, People in love with the music, though, don't give a damn about anything but her sound, nor should they.. It's never about the singer, it's always about the music. interested in hearing what a good Rossini mezzo sounds like, but if you are, type Marilyn Horne and listen.

Jenkins' voice is just not good enough for opera. Compare Joyce Di Donato in this aria - an exemplar for any singer. Jenkins is the female Paul Potts.

She's a fine singer...Just not of Rossini.

my only wish is to get hold of you nasty insulting people and beat you till you can type no more. you really are dire people to make such comments! Kathrine is lovely and a great singer... so do please go fuck your selfs!!!!!
I just don't understand how she doesn't realise how bad this is?? This aria should only be sung by professional opera singers who understand the importance of precise coloratura and good character portrayal. Why would she even attempt to sing this? I'm baffled!

A pitiful attempt to capture the beauty of a great Rossini aria.
