Actually giving sonic a sword techincaly increases his strength! if you give shadow a gun he only loses strength because he only press a button and your opponent are dead! You need strength to slash enemies down with swords! so sonic gets more power by using it!

its like shadow with a gun pointless, and makes them invincible,especially shadow cos he can just run behind them and shoot
