I shot this buck from a treestand behind my house with a bow. He went a lot farther than we thought, even though I broke one shoulder and quartered the arrow through his lungs. I was using the rocket expandable broad heads for the first time. He later went on to score 172 pope and young points.

  • Don't blame you for not giving up your spot. I can't say I wouldn't do the same (haha). That's too bad that the one in the video was only a point away from being a B&C book deer. Still a great deer none the less. Going out Saturday mourning myself & would love for one to come by like the kind you've been seeing. Good luck on getting the "big one" on film or even better, on the ground. Good luck from one A-town resident to another.

  • thats a nice friken deer!! congratulations

  • Hey nice buck!! what kinda bow were you shooting?

  • Ha! Awesome deer, congratulations!

  • Ha ha. Thanks but It's a secret. :) There's a bigger one coming in. I saw him at about 40 yards the other day but couldn't get a shot. I'm going to try and get him on a trail cam. He's more typical with spread about 1.5 times the length of his ears. I'm guessing 180 or so typical. The one in this video was 172 NT. He didn't score well as a typical but still makes Pope and Young typical or non typical.

  • Just for the hell of it, what road do you live down near Anola? I'm about 10 minutes away from Anola myself and I know how nice the bucks can be around here. Who knows, might have seen you around or passed by the area you got him in. Nice buck and great to see the kids helping out!!

  • great buck!
