A Ceremony of Carols
(Benjamin Britten)
& Traditional Carols and Holiday Songs
from Around the World

In Dulci Jubilo (Latin-German)
Wexford Carol (Irish) Noah Knepper, oboe; Thomas Bogdan, tenor
Nia gaire que auvit (French) Rosalind Rees, soprano; Fay Kittelson, alto
Pastores a Belen (Spanish) Joan Friedman, soprano

The program begins with a scale like fanfare for the bell choir, which is then joined by the chorus singing the old German-Latin carol 'In Dulci Jubilo'. Midway through the setting, the organ joins in with harmonic progressions that underlie the bell choir and voices. These harmonies in turn become the accompaniment (transferred to orchestra) for an old Irish melody called 'Wexford Carol', a combination of voices and orchestra. A small instrumental bridge at the end leads to the a capella French carol, 'Nia gaire que auvit'. This beautiful piece has its origins in medieval times. The language is probably Catalan. The final piece in the group brings back the bell choir once more, this time taking the melody while the chorus accompanies. The carol 'Pastores a Belen' ends on a quiet note with a capella voices.

Will you go to heaven when you die?
Here's a quick test.

Have you ever told a lie?
Have you ever stolen anything regardless of the value? Have you ever taken God's name in vain?
Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her in his heart." Have you looked with lust? Will you be guilty on judgement day?

If you have done those things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that if you are guilty you will end up in hell. That's not God's will.

God sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you. You broke God's law, but Jesus paid your fine. That means He can legally dismiss your case. He can commute your death sentence, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life." Then He rose from the dead on the third day and defeated death.

Please repent (turn from sin) today and trust alone in Jesus Christ, and God will grant you the gift of Everlasting Life. Then read your Bible daily and obey it.
