Jolson was used to working onstage where facial expressions had to be exaggerated so the audience way in the back could see them.

As a young guy, I worked with older musicians who as had seen Jolson shows. Everyone said the same thing. They had never seen a better entertainer.

The eye movements ARE a bit creepy though.....was that part of the character or story or something?
