  • cooli this was added on my b day

  • So the original timeline didn't have those people saved but pieces of the attempt were there. So when Doug traveled back, one part of him traveled to a parallel timeline and another traveled back to the original where he failed? When was it EVER explained in this movie that when you send things back in time, it splits into two universes? THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE

  • No he didn't save another timeline... his actions created it. Remember this is branch theory. Although the characters say they don't know what would happen to the existing timeline and that they think that changing it would probably wipe them out; that is actually there for dramatic tension purposes. Branch theory dictates that the original timeline MUST continue parallel to the new one in order to avoid a paradox.

  • So essentially, he saved another timeline yet certain aspects of the 2nd timeline affected the same timeline, except there is one major problem. You can't just pick and choose what parts of the 2nd timeline effects the first. In fact the only two things that didn't change the original timeline is that the bomb blew up and killed everyone and not him. So according to this logic, Doug should have just disappeared when the bomb went off. So no, it doesn't make sense.

  • It makes perfect sense if you think laterally. You just have to make the mental connection that a version of Doug also travelled back from at least two parallel timelines ago and failed in the previous one which he arrived in (the "original" timeline of his past actions that we witness in the film).
