Yes, there are bands in the military, but your chance of getting into one is about 1/1000 at best. So many people apply for them that you almost have to have a masters degree in music to even get considered.

Seems like about 4 years ago the Reserves and National Guard were deployed more than active units. My dad was sationed in German the whole Vietnam war. I was stationed in KY for my 5 years in the army, with a brief stint in Iraq for 2 months cause I volunteered to learn another MOS so I would have a job over there to get out of boring ass Ft. Campbell. Nothing she said was a lie, it may not be the norm, but there are many opportunities in the Army, you just need to look for and take advantage.

@totoynani143 Yeah, I agree she's just doing her job. Recruiting is a special duty and you have to apply for it. I don't know how the Army does it but there is a strict selection process for recruiters in the Air Force. The sad truth is about 1% is actually QUALIFIED to enlist. There are people who want to join but can't because of their weight, law violations, ASVAB scores, tattoos (believe it or not), etc. I'd say anybody serving in the Middle East is in danger.

1. Not all deployment go to Iraq, I went to Okinawa
2. It IS possible to get out, it's just difficult
3. There IS an Army band, as well as a Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. band
4. The recruiter is telling the recruit to stretch the truth, which is wrong, however, she thought she was helping someone who wanted to get into the military. I've seen cats that actually wanted to get in get denied on some stupid shit like a sprained wrist from a decade ago.
